40. THE END OF THE BOOK - ON THE (UFO) ROAD AGAIN
This book would not be complete if I did not mention Bob Gribble, the former Director of the UFO Reporting Center in Seattle. He shared information with our organization. Through Bob I received a call one day from a man named Tex. Tex had just seen the film, "UFOs are Real," on television. He wanted to talk to Lt. Col. Wendelle Stevens, (Ret.) who was featured in the movie. Bob told Tex to call us. Tex and I ended up talking about an hour that day.
Several phone calls later I made the remark to Tex that I wished he were closer so I could share some of the interesting things that happen every day with him. He said to me, "Why don't you write a book?" That way you could share with everyone! This book is the direct result of that statement.
The first time Tex called Bob Gribble was in 1980 after he had a fantastic close encounter by a UFO. Bob went through his files until he found Tex's report he had made to the UFO Reporting Center. Bob had also written it up in his periodical newsletter he sent out to interested parties. The following is the excerpt from Phenomena Research Report, Vol. C, No. 6, Issue No. 30.
11/3/80 -- NEAR OZONA, TEXAS--6:50 PM; A small aircraft had just taken off and was about 1000 feet off the ground when the pilot spotted a glowing object coming from the direction of Sonora at a very high rate of speed. It was long in shape and pointed on both ends. About six miles out of Ozona the object separated into two parts and the back section moved into a position directly under the front section and the two objcts passed the plane. They were both the same intensity of light. As the pilot watched the objects move over Ozona their glow disappeared. Instantly the airplane engine stopped and its lights went out. A few seconds later the glow around the objects reappeared. The plane's engine started by itself and its lights came on. Both objects then dropped to a lower altitude and moved away toward the Mexican border. Five additional witnesses on the ground also observed the objects. Later that same evening what could have been the same object was observed in the middle of U.S. Highway 87, southeast of Sterling, Texas and about 75 miles north of Ozona. The object was on the highway and lunged upward to avoid being hit by a car occupied by two women. Tex later talked with the women after he landed.
The next morning when he went to his bank the first words out of his banker's mouth was "Boy, you should have seen what I saw last night!" Tex had made the same statement almost simultaneously. They compared notes and found that the banker was seeing the craft in the air at the same time Tex observed its close approach to his plane.
In 1988 a person called from Fife, Washington from a motel where he was staying for the night. He was idly thumbing through the TV Guide in his room when he saw an advertisement we had put in there. That advertisement was the only time it appeared in the TV guide. It said if you have had an unusual experience with UFOs and need someone to talk to - call this number. He immediately called me. That was the beginning of a life long frindship that exists to the present day.
Jeff made an appointment to come and see me. The result was we did two sessions of hypnosis to recover his lost time memories.
The first part of his story was when he was out on a date with a local school teacher. He was driving in his pickup and all of a sudden the pickup was up in the air going around in circles. The next conscious memory was being on the delta of the Missouri river 70 miles from home. The pickup had used no gas! The next day after driving home they went back to the spot. Across the river Jeff had some friends so they went over to talk to them. One of the boys told Jeff that he had seen a UFO on the river bank the night before!
The most fantastic thing happened to Jeff in Evanston, Wyoming. Jeff travels for his company so he is on the road all of the time. This evening he rented his room for the night and then went to a lounge which had a lot of Mexican oil laborers in it. People were dancing so he decided to ask a girl to dance with him. She had been sitting at a table with many women and one or two Mexican men. The girl refused and said you don't want to dance with me! He thought that a bit strange but he passed it off. He went to the bar and was standing there when two Mexican men flanked him, one on each side. Jeff got this really uneasy feeling so he left. They followed him into the parking lot. As he got close to his car they pulled a switch blade and demanded his money. He said I am not giving you my money! At that time he was opening the car door. As they came nearer to him all of a sudden they had this look of horror on their faces and ran away. About that time a police car drove up and asked if there was a problem. Jeff was shaking and told the officer what had happened. He told Jeff that they had a lot of problems lately with the oil workers robbing people in the parking lots. The policeman took off after them.
Jeff went back to his motel room, still shaking and trying to settle down. All of a sudden a woman totally in white appeared to him. Then he was really shook up! He broke his own little finger to make sure he wasn't hallucinating. He wasn't. She told him many things about himself and also about his future. She also told him to touch her so he would know she was real. When he did he felt love go right up his arm and fill him with joy. She told him that he previously was a star ship captain and she was his mother in a former life. She also told him that he had a wife and daughter waiting for him. He later saw both of them. Jeff has never married because of them.
Since that time Jeff has had many unusual experiences which continue. Jeff comes to see me several times a year for business and he always stays at my home. He has done many wonderful things for me which I cannot repay. It resulted in we are best friends. I understand him and he understands me.
And that is the reason this book was written. I expect there will be many more stories in the future of unusual contact cases. Perhaps some day I will write a sequel, but until then, "Keep Looking Up!'

Many years have come and gone. I moved to Texas in 1994 and that was the end of my involvement with the UFOCCI. I moved back to Seattle in 1996. There was a small group in the Seattle area that I attended but not as Director. Now I live in Colorado. I have found a couple of people who have had relatives who experienced a close encounter here but those kind of people are few and far between!
AN UPDATE ON SOME OF THE PEOPLE MENTIONED IN THIS BOOK.
PARIS COLORADO - lives in Phoenix. Paris and 4 more persons received "The Book of Light" from a contact they had together.
HELENE CHARBONNEAU - died of heart failure after an operation.
JIM VAN AVERY - became religious, married his high school sweetheart and no longer has anything to do with metaphysical subjects.
BOB GRIBBLE - turned over the UFO Reporting Center to Peter Davenport.
LOZANNA ELWOOD - moved back to Washington state and married Rod Burlingame.
MARK - we brought Mark to Seattle, thanks to Whitley Streiber who contributed $1,000 on Mark's behalf. Mark finally went back east and we don't know what has happened to him.
DAN EDWARDS - Married Linda Lee. Moved to Phoenix and then Colorado. They are now divorced. Both moved back to Seattle. Dan is retired and has moved back to Colorado.
PAT McGUIRE - Pat lost the ranch. He divorced his second wife and went to work as a Ranch foreman on ranches in Wyoming and Colorado. I was told he lives with his daughter in Laramie, Wyoming. He picks up cans along the highway to make money.
